How often should your office actually be cleaned?

Hybrid schedules broke the old nightly-cleaning default, and most offices are now either overpaying for five nights of service they don't need or underserving restrooms that see the same load in three days. Frequency should follow occupancy, not habit.

Start with occupied-days-per-week

Count the days your space is actually at more than 40% occupancy. That number, not headcount, sets your baseline frequency.

  • 5 occupied days — nightly service
  • 3–4 occupied days — 3x weekly, scheduled the day of or after peak days
  • 2 occupied days — 2x weekly
  • 1–2 occupied days or under 15 people — weekly, with restroom-only mid-week touch

Tasks that never drop below daily

Regardless of overall frequency, some tasks run every occupied day or you will hear about it.

  • Restroom fixtures, restock and floor
  • Break room and kitchen surfaces, trash and dish area
  • Trash and recycling at all common points
  • Entry glass and high-touch hardware

The weekly, monthly and quarterly layer

Moving detail work into a scheduled periodic program is where most offices find savings without any visible drop in cleanliness.

  • Weekly — full vacuum including edges, dusting of all horizontal surfaces, interior glass
  • Monthly — high dusting, vent covers, baseboards, appliance interiors
  • Quarterly — carpet extraction, hard floor scrub or burnish, window washing
  • Annually — floor stripping and waxing, deep upholstery cleaning

Industries that need more

Medical, dental, childcare, food service and fitness facilities carry regulatory and health requirements that override the occupancy math — these are nightly at minimum with disinfection protocols documented.

Frequently asked

Is three times a week enough for an office?

For a hybrid office occupied three or four days a week, yes — as long as restrooms and break rooms are serviced on every occupied day and periodic detail work is scheduled.

How often should office carpet be deep cleaned?

Quarterly extraction for high-traffic commercial carpet, twice yearly for lower-traffic professional office. Entry and corridor areas often need more.

Can we change frequency mid-contract?

With us, yes. Occupancy changes and your scope should change with it — we re-price rather than lock you into a frequency that no longer fits.
